About Matthew Buttle

I am a qualified mechanical engineer with more than 15 years of leadership, development and technical experience in the aviation industry. My experience has been broad having worked in military, general and commercial aviation on both local and international projects. The commonality has been a focus on certification of aircraft, aircraft parts and products. I enjoy problem solving and unique challenges. I am disciplined and detail oriented. I also serve on a number of professional bodies.As a head engineer on development programs, I am responsible for all technical aspects, including management of technical staff, manufacturing staff, resources and quality management. Other responsibilities include business development and international engagement, partnership development, project management, subcontractor management and financial forecasting. I have experience in all the processes involved, having directly done the work in design, analysis, certification, safety and compliance, quality control, and auditing. Included in this is manufacturing experience in CNC programming, composite tooling and parts manufacture, sheet metal processes, thermo-plastic tooling and additive manufacturing. Due to this my work always has manufacturability and maintainability in mind.I have been fortunate to be able to share my experiences as keynote speaker at Dronecon and for the Aeronautic Society of South Africa as well as being interviewed for Siemens Innovation Day and local television news and interest pieces. I believe my experience gives me a unique insight into the full working of the engineering environment and I enjoy being able to make a marked difference in an organisation.I am open to opportunities local and overseas.
