I research under the direction and supervision of Dr. Maricruz Rivera-Hernandez in the Center for Gerontology and Healthcare Research. We are currently analyzing trends in health-related migration of Medicare beneficiaries with high needs and complex chronic conditions in Puerto Rico. I support research initiatives by conducting literature reviews and drafting manuscripts for future submission to peer-reviewed journals.

I lead a project assessing Covid-19 related attitudes and behaviors with religious and cultural variables as mediators. Currently collaborating on manuscript with mentor to eventually disseminate findings.

I completed research under the mentorship of Dr. Rivera-Hernandez, an Assistant Professor of Health Services and Policy in the School of Public Health. I conducted a qualitative analysis of interviews with community organizations and stakeholders who provide services to older adults navigating Medicare open enrollment. I outlined current barriers related to open enrollment and provided recommendations on how to enhance virtual Medicare open enrollment platforms and services.

I tutored first-generation students at Azusa High School. I developed interactive methods to support students virtually and in-person in their academic endeavors and helped students navigate the college application process. Additionally, I reminded students of the vocational possibilities that are accessible to them and the importance of being leaders in their own communities, predominantly Latinx communities.

I conducted an independent research project under the mentorship of Dr. Arthur "Trey" Andrews, an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The study focused on the interaction between race/ethnicity and access to routine care affecting the probability of having undiagnosed diabetes and poor glycemic control. Project findings were disseminated at the Nebraska Summer Research Symposium 2021.
