Team Vicar in the Newton Abbot Parishes with special responsibility for St. Luke's, Milber and Vicar of St. John's, Bovey Tracey. A Vicar is called to shepherd his people in their growing faith with and in Jesus Christ. In these two parishes I am responsible for the 'cure of souls', with the Bishop, and to bring as many people as possible with me to the gates of Heaven.

Matthew continues his Curacy (training) at St. Mary-The-Virgin, Kenton in the Diocese of London after serving for 18 months in the West Hereford Team Ministry, Hereford."To serve this royal priesthood, God has given particular ministries. They share with the Bishop in the oversight of the Church, delighting in its beauty and rejoicing in its well-being. They are to work with their fellow members in searching out the poor and weak, the sick and lonely and those who are oppressed and powerless, reaching into the forgotten corners of the world, that the love of God may be made visible.Deacons share in the pastoral ministry of the Church and in leading God's people in worship. They preach the word and bring the needs of the world before the Church in intercession. They accompany those searching for faith and bring them to baptism. They assist in administering the sacraments; they distribute communion and minister to the sick and housebound.Deacons are to seek nourishment from the Scriptures; they are to study them with God's people, that the whole Church may be equipped to live out the gospel in the world. They are to be faithful in prayer, expectant and watchful for the signs of God's presence, as he reveals his kingdom among us."

Matthew studied at Ripon College Cuddesdon for his BA in Theology, Mission & Ministry from Durham University. He left in 2017 to take up his Title Post as Assistant Curate in the West Hereford Team Ministry.

A voluntary role as Trustee/Director of the Veritas Educational Trust, a Christian MAT. I offer guidance and support on marketing and comms as well as data protection issues. I am Chair of the Trust Development Committee and act as chair / panel member for various complaint and safeguarding panels as required.

A Trustee of SPCK Matthew aided the board in continuing to be a world-leading Christian publisher - helping them to push boundaries in publishing technology and advise on future looking initiatives.

One of the founders of Over The Air, Matthew worked with Dan Appelquist & Margaret Gold to develop and lead a new Hack Day format combining the best of a traditional conference with that of an un-conference.Matthew's real skill in this arena was the operational delivery of the event. Creating a space for innovation and development that was friendly, open and was never curtailed by physicality or a sentiment of 'but we've never done that before'.Matthew left Over The Air in 2015 to pursue his calling as a Priest in the Church of England.
