Through The Education Game, I lead workshops, speak, blog, and create podcasts to help parents and learner adjust their mindset regarding learning.Personally, over the last 14 years, my children have been educated in hybrid, micro, virtual, self-directed, and traditional learning models. I know how to navigate each of these systems and how to support parents who are looking to grow a learner who is genuinely ready for the 21st century. The Education Game has changed. The chronic problems of cronyism and political infighting within HISD led me to enter this race. For the last three months, I've been meeting with residents in civic clubs, churches, door-to-door, and over the phone. Residents are angry, teachers are disgusted at their board leadership, and parents are afraid for their children. I am running to restore integrity and stability to HISD and to end the structural problems that have led to the dysfunction. My platform is this: 1) A laser focus on early reading, 2) Every HISD graduate will attain a technical certificate, military training, or a two-year or four-year degree, and 3) Families and communities will re-engage in the educational process.
