About Matthew Collins

As a litigator and outside general counsel, I focus on construction litigation, risk management, business disputes, collections and consumer protection law. As a community association attorney, I provide counsel and legal representation to condominium associations and homeowner associations regarding all facets of their operations and risk management. The services that I have provided include the interpretation and enforcement of governing documents, guidance through the transition process, negotiation and review of contracts, collection of delinquent assessments, assertion of insurance claims, advising on board governance matters, and the prosecution of complex construction defect claims. My primary goal for community associations is to resolve the issues at hand in a practical manner that promotes the enjoyment of the community while ensuring that the association’s legal rights are protected. An astute problem-solver and experienced litigator, I take proactive steps to help my clients manage risk and avoid litigation. When litigation is unavoidable, I work with opposing counsel to pursue such alternative methods of dispute resolution as mini-trials, arbitration, early neutral evaluation and mediation. Not every issue needs to be resolved by trial. I understand the desire to save both time and money by resolving disputes before they reach the courtroom. If a trial is necessary, I have the years of courtroom experience, first as a criminal defense attorney and then as a commercial litigator, to try cases aggressively and with confidence. I combine these skills with the determination and grit necessary to fight for my clients.Whether in the boardroom or a full membership meeting of an association, I use my calming presence and years of experience to resolve conflicts and provide strategic guidance.

Listed skills include Community Association Law, Commercial Litigation, Construction Defect Litigation, Business Disputes, and 7 others.
