The defense and intelligence communities have unique challenges that come with their mission set. My job is first and foremost to listen to, understand, and work with the people safeguarding our national security. From there, I work on providing those people solutions based on SpiderOak technology that enables greater mission agility, safety, and success. At a conference, a general noted his teenage child had access to better and more useful technology than he had on the job- it's my mission to make sure the same level of useful technology is available to those protecting our nation.Within SpiderOak, I lead all of our efforts related to the defense and intelligence markets. This means I manage the national security-focused product portfolio, establish and execute on the plans for further integrating with this market, participate in planning for future growth, lay out product marketing, and champion for our mission customers' needs. This includes working daily with the customers in the Department of Defense as well as the Intelligence Community. I've wound up a jack-of-all-trades, but all in support of supporting those with mission to fulfill.Finally in this role, I lead execution on our consulting and services contracts, including Federal work.

On one side, I make sure that messaging around our products makes it easy for decision-makers to grasp the importance of our technology stack. On the other side, I bring the voice of the customer into the company, and advocate for their needs when making decisions around product direction.

I drive providing high quality products to our users and customers, and my daily responsibilities are to remove any barriers for my team to be able to deliver on that. I am responsible for our whole product portfolio, as well as much of the back office legwork to make sure everything gets done and happens for my team so they can do their work without worry.In addition, I assist in working with our investors so they have an understanding of the engineering side of our business, and assist the CEO in anything he needs to get the business moved along.

I manage day to day development activity, typically taking over projects once they leave the R&D phase and need to be turned into a product. The core products I oversee include our desktop and mobile clients, the website, and our enterprise offering (SpiderOak Blue).

I brought to market the 1.0 versions of our iOS and Android clients, and assisted in bringing online our 3rd generation backend storage cluster suite. In addition, I did most of the initial development work for the 1.0 of SpiderOak Blue

I bring experience into the commission from the tech world, and help bridge the government and community organizers within the commission to the available tech helpers in Chicago.

As the Executive Director, it's my responsibility to drive the organization's mission forward, providing vision and working with our board, donors, and team to make sure the world is a safe place online.

I'm Solve Smart Cities' contracted CISO, and I bring to the team someone who's focused on ensuring that Solve holds itself to the highest levels of security and privacy as responsible stewards of personal data. My position is wide-ranging, covering social engineering to software engineering to ensuring that we have sound technological and process solutions to managing the privacy rights of people who entrust their data into Solve's system. I work with the CEO, CTO, corporate counsel, and many others on the team to ensure whole-team buy-in and support.As CISO, I also work with the CTO to drive software architecture and technology choices to ensure the best security and privacy properties of the software used by Solve. By being able to be single-mindedly focused on security and privacy implications of technology decisions, I am able to make sure that we provide nothing but the best for the organizations that work with Solve and the people whose lives are being improved through Solve.
