In June 2009 I seized an opportunity to utilise my business skills and knowledge to set up All Amber. This allowed me to initiate a series of ground-breaking conferences and to develop a successful business focusing upon the potential of mobile content and services in Sub-Saharan Africa. Since then I have organised a number of high calibre conferences in Lagos, Cape Town, London, Johannesburg, Berlin and Nairobi.These have all been built on the belief that the mobile device is going to have a transformational effect on societies, particularly across Sub-Saharan Africa. It has been an incredible rewarding and educational time in my career and has enabled me to spend significant periods in the key markets of Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa. Twice I have been asked to contribute at SXSW in Austin, Texas, I also joined the UK Prime Minister’s business delegation on his trip to the continent in July 2011, have been interviewed on numerous occasions for TV, radio, print and online, have contributed at conferences and also provide advice and analysis to a range of organisations.My pragmatic, hardworking and entrepreneurial nature has seen my conferences and company valued across the distinctive African mobile ecosystems, to the degree whereby my personal reputation for delivering high quality projects is now well-established. My open approach to facilitating business relationships has led to me becoming a key connector and respected advisor in these growing markets and as a result, I enjoy the benefits of having access to a very substantial network across the region.

As Head of Research at Balancing Act I undertook research, analysis and consultancy projects on the development of telecommunications and broadcasting sectors across Africa. During my time I authored 2 reports:- Analogue to Digital Broadcasting Migration in Africa, Nov 2018- 4G & 5G in Africa: Launches, subscribers, data prices and trends, Feb 2019It was an excellent opportunity to further develop my understanding of how the industries are evolving on the continent and the ramifications for the different stakeholders.

I consider the App Promotion Summit's to be a fantastic case in point in terms of the true ability of conferences. It's a great topic area, that back in 2013 wasn't being given the attention it should have been, the feedback we're receiving about the networking and knowledge available is superb and it's testimony to the event format and management experience that I've built up.The year-on-year organic growth of the conferences illustrates that preparing properly, focusing on quality and investing does pay dividends.

I was delighted to be asked to join the Board of SMW Lagos for the inaugural event in 2013 and i have been involved with it ever since. It's a great event, led by fantastic people, and I hope that my experience, expertise and network have contributed to it's growth.

As a result of being invited to join David Cameron's Business Delegation on his trip to South Africa and Nigeria I was then asked to become a member of the newly formed Sub-Saharan Africa Task Force. I attended quarterly meetings with Government and Business Leaders where the UK's future strategy for doing business in Sub-Saharan Africa was discussed.It was a privilege from start to finish to be associated with the UK Government and was not only extremely enlightening but also gave me great confidence in the work that I was undertaking with All Amber. The Task Force ended when the UKTI reorganised its structure in late 2014.

At Osney, I worked on developing new events and boosting the success of existing ones. Project areas included the mobile web, UK public sector transformation, mobile gaming, HR in the Middle East, renewable energy and internal knowledge management.

At the CTO, my main objective was to build upon the events that the organisation had already run, make the set-up more professional, and also use the events as a tool to boost the organisation's profile and membership.Events I organised at the CTO included:- European/Africa ICT Roundtable (2007 & 2008, Finland/Germany & Sweden/UK)- Connecting Rural Communities Africa (2006 & 2007, Nigeria & Kenya) - Digital Broadcasting Switchover Forum (2007 & 2008, South Africa)- CTO Forum (2006 & 2007, UK & Jamaica)- ICT For Disaster Management (2007, Jamaica)- HR4ICT (2007, Mauritius)- The African e-Gov Forum (2007 & 2008)The majority of the work was based upon building relationships between the Public and Private Sectors.

After returning from travelling, I was offered the opportunity to continue using my knowledge of the defence industry, particularly in relation to the continuing digitisation of the battlefield. During my short stint at Frost & Sullivan I was the author of a 30,000+ word report on the the Future of Strategic Military Communications in Europe 2005 to 2014 and I also worked on various consulting projects with some of the leading defence companies globally.

I joined WBR, the leading B2B conference company in the world, to help them establish a defence department after they had run a successful defence logistics conference. My events mainly focused on the digitisation of the battlefield and how technology could be best incorporated. The department became very successful, very quickly and the legacy still lives on, with WBR having developed their defence portfolio of events globally.

At my first job in the conference industry I organised many conferences during a short time period focusing on defence logistics, procurement, air defence and C4ISTAR.
