I have a passion for the space where software and hardware meet in the real world: actuators, sensors, planning, controls. I feel that a combined knowledge of both hardware and software together produce the best results. I have a background in mechanical systems hardware that I feel is helpful for writing good control software, but I also like taking my knowledge of software and sensors to help design good hardware.I've been incredibly lucky to have worked with multiple teams where we assembled new, novel robotic systems and made them move for the first time. I'm always excited to hear about new opportunities to do this kind of groundbreaking work again in the future.I have worked with robot arms and mobile robots in a variety of settings and am interested in exploring numerous areas of cutting edge research: manipulator kinematics and control, tele-operation, motion planning, force control, and vision guided manipulation.Specialty skills:Proficient in C/C++ and Python development in LinuxExperienced with ROS in both C++ and Python in LinuxVersion control with git (preferred) and svnTechnical computing and simulation experience on various platforms: MATLAB, Simulink, AdamsProficient in 3D CAD design in Solidworks, Fusion 360, OnShapeGUI design experience in QtBasic electronics experience with microcontrollers, mostly atmel (arduino) Proficient in metal shop: mill, lathe, basic CNCExperienced with FDM based 3D printers

Research AssistantMit Field And Space Robotics Laboratory Aug 2003 - Jun 2005Cambridge, Ma, UsI designed force control systems for a heavy lift robot for the Navy. This robot was designed to work on the decks aircraft carriers to load weapons on aircraft. The force control system allowed for the operator to interact directly with the payload to deal with tight tolerances on the payload mating fixtures.Advisor: Prof. Steven Dubowsky -
Research AssistantCarnegie Mellon Robotics Institute May 2002 - Jun 2003Pittsburgh, Pa, UsI worked in the medical technology research center as an undergraduate research assistant. Our project involved designing an exoskeleton for the disabled. This project used EMG muscle sensors as control signals to provide natural interaction with the exoskeleton.Advisor: Prof. Yoky Matsuoka -
