I led a team of data analysts working with attorneys nationwide to create clarity out of complex litigation data. Plaintiff and defense attorneys retained me to opine on class action certification issues and financial damages. I served as a project manager and data analyst on data warehouse projects and BI tool installation engagements. Clients included: • Medical device manufacturer that was implementing a global data warehouse. Project was unique due to its international flavor, requiring multiple currencies and languages. • Large health insurance company migrating to new corporate systems which required a total redesign of its data warehouse capabilities• World leader in aviation data desired improved reporting capabilities provided to its data warehouse user community through Cognos Business Intelligence tool suite.

I managed a team of 10 – 15 analysts and developers responsible for the design, development and deployment of a corporate data warehouse and business analytics capabilities for this $4 billion corporation. The reporting environment supported operational and tactical reporting through the use of MS Access and Cognos BI suite of reporting tools and data cubes. These tools were used in offices throughout the country. I served as the data modeler and application architect, and lead the training of users at the divisions. I also worked directly with senior management on strategic data analysis projects, personally developing many of the analytical models and capabilities for these ad hoc requests.

I oversaw the class action litigation and claims administration practice area of the Denver Office. Many of my client engagements involved the creation of financial damage models for complex commercial litigation. This involved interacting with resources at our client or the opposing company to identify sources of relevant data, converting data from a wide variety of computer and physical data sources into consistent electronic data, and developing project-specific analytical capabilities. This gave me exposure to the business practices and computers systems of companies in a wide variety of industries. Given the immaturity of PC software at the time, I used many different software development tools to perform data analysis, including FoxPro, Paradox, FOCUS (a hierarchical database application) and the initial version of Microsoft Access.
