About Matthew Fernandez
I'm currently an aerospace engineering student at the University of Michigan. I am driven by a passion for pushing boundaries and learning new material. Whether it's the copy of "Introduction to Flight" that has become a mainstay in my bag for the last few months or my constant questions during aerospace seminars, I'm always willing to build on my theoretical knowledge and practical skills. My journey in engineering has been enriched by immersive experiences both inside and outside the classroom. Through my involvement in research, I have worked with both materials science and aerospace projects, learning about fields such as sustainable batteries and adaptation of hydroponics systems for low gravity. This hands-on experience has given me an appreciation for the complexities of engineering and the design and development process. I've also had the pleasure of participating in engineering teams as part of my coursework, where I led the design and building of an RC hovercraft. Beyond the confines of engineering, I have begun flight training, where I'm currently preparing for my first solo. By taking to the skies, I have gained invaluable insights into how the theoretical concepts I've mastered on paper actually affect the flight characteristics of an airplane.Driven by a relentless curiosity and a desire to contribute to the future of aerospace technology, I am committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the vast expanse of the aerospace industry.
