Profile bio

About Matthew Felton

I am a believer that it is critical to understand the people and the business challenges before applying technology. This has lead to significant experience in the planning, orchestration, and execution of large scale transformational technology efforts from identification of the business challenges to production release of the technical solution.Taking evolutionary and revolutionary steps demands strong communication skills and political savviness which I have built with my experiences in the public sector and financial services industry. The wins, and more importantly losses, over the past 20 years have been critical to polishing this skill set.On the technical side of things I am a generalist with a focus on infrastructure, security, and identity. I have worked for two out the big three public cloud providers and have a solid skill set in both Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Over the past few years I've had heavy focus in the infrastructure and security realms across both clouds with more recent experience in Microsoft Azure. At both AWS and Microsoft I have specialized in helping new cloud customers in regulated industries build the necessary governance, process, and foundational infrastructure technology to help aid in initial adoption of the cloud. This has helped strengthen my strategic thinking, program management, and orchestration skillsets.I have a deep love for learning and technology. There is nothing more fun than jumping my neck deep into the weeds of a product or technology. Check out my blog at journeyofthegeek.com for the examples.CISSP, CCSP, CCSK, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, AWS Certified Security - Speciality, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, The LInux Foundation Certified Kubernetes Administrator, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Linux+DISCLAIMERAll views expressed on this site are my own and do not represent the opinions of any entity whatsoever of which I have been, am now, or will be affiliated.
