About Matthew Mccabe
Matthew McCabe currently serves as Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago. In those roles he led strategic planning, policy and advocacy, community and government engagement, strategic communications and branding for the schools serving 12,700 students alongside 1,500 staff. Matt started at Noble as a history teacher, grade level lead and Illinois state champion ultimate frisbee coach. In 2010, President Barack Obama nominated Matt as a director for the AmeriCorps board of directors, which required U.S. Senate-confirmation. He was later appointed by Gov. Pat Quinn to the Serve Illinois Commission. He has completed policy fellowships with Teach Plus and Leadership for Educational Equity, served as a Teach for America AmeriCorps Member and was elected as a Local School Council representative at Brentano Math & Science Academy in the Logan Square neighborhood in Chicago.Matt graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.A. in Political Science and English and holds an M.A.T. summa cum laude from Dominican University.
