I currently work within a Design and Build team of engineers delivering solutions for customers and industrial partners of the MTC. We complete a wide range of projects across several industrial sectors requiring skills such as mechanical design, research and testing and report writing and presentation. Recently I've managed an internal project completing research and testing of advanced fixturing techniques using 3D-printing technology. Bringing together my practical machining knowledge, 3D-printing application knowledge and mechanical design skillset.

During this time I continued my development from an apprentice technician, working within the CNC machine tools team. This involved programming, setting and operating of 3, 3+5 and 5 axis Mills and 3, 4 axis Lathes. Towards the end of this role I had started to work more closely with a small team that handled workshop-based projects for members and clients of the MTC. In this time I managed several small projects and developed my CAD skills.Generally, day to day I would be working on these projects that mainly consisted of research and CAD activities. However, as I was still within the CNC team I would also be machining a wide variety of components, often 1 off's, that contained complex geometries and tight tolerances.

During my apprenticeship I completed several qualification including a BTEC level 3 in Engineering and HNC in Engineering. I had also completed fabrication and welding certification and a NVQ level 3 in CNC machining. In this time I developed practical skills within the toolroom and worked on manual lathes and milling machines. Eventually working up to setting and operating vertical mills of 3, 3+2 axis and 3, 4 axis lathes.I also had the opportunity to work within different departments at the MTC, including Metrology where I developed my 1st Principle’s Inspection skills and GD&T techniques. I also worked on programming and operating of CMMs, completing Hexagon PC-DMIS training.

Studied at Solihull College and University Centre who delivered a BSc in Mechanical Engineering course accredited by Oxford Brooks.
