I was the Fire Control/Gunnery/Ballistic Missile Defense Officer onboard USS Shiloh homeported south of Tokyo, Japan. I managed a team of 50 sailors, keeping our weapon systems ready for action 24/7.- Guided 50 sailors in the maintenance, repair and operations of the ship’s $1B+ combat and weapon systems.- Overhauled the preventive/corrective maintenance program yielding over $1M in savings by sourcing reconditioned -vs.- new parts.- Supervised the offensive/defensive employment of over 100 fighter aircraft and 200 pilots from the USS George Washington Strike Group.- As Boarding Team Officer, shaped 20 sailors into an effective fighting ship boarding team, resulting in zero mishaps.

Jacksonville, Florida

Trained and supervised 26 sailors in the maintenance and operation of the ship's active and passive sonar systems, torpedoes, radars, satellite, and data communications equipment. • Managed 12 personnel in the operation and maintenance of two LM2500 gas turbine engines, four 1MW diesel generators, two 120 ton refrigeration systems and firefighting systems • Developed a training program that resulted in a proficiency score of 92.3% against foreign submarines • Saved the Navy over $800K in parts and labor by overseeing difficult in-house repairs of a legacy gyro synchronizer, ships navigation radar and main air search radar instead of using contractor support
