QinetiQ Technical Lead on circa £6 Million helicopter cockpit display / mission avionics developmental / certification / qualification test programme. Responsible for safe delivery of ground and flight test (circa 200 flight hours to date) within a multi-agency Combined Test Team under extreme pressure.Internally I lead a multi-disciplined team of Flight Test / System Engineers and Military Test Pilots and oversight of aircraft maintenance and Flight Test Instrumentation support. Overview of Project Control Documents in accordance with Systems Engineering principles and responsible for management of trials risk. I ensure adherence to new/changing military aircraft flight regulations and trials safety processes. Input to and review of commercial proposals, define internal resource requirements and ensure delivered work is within contracted boundaries. Manage internal communications within commercial, technical and aircraft/airfield support departments to provide feedback on progress and to resolve problems. Perform Flight Test Engineer and Systems Test Engineer duties when necessary. Externally recognised as focal point and lead on daily communications to wider industry. Manages customer relations and expectations, develops customer requirements for programme changes.

I worked on the civil certification and military qualification of rotary wing aircraft. I worked in all technical disciplines in English and Italian. Main projects and responsibilities:AW129 ATAK - Military attack helicopterDevelopment of Flight Test qualification requirements and Means of Compliance from contractual requirements and applicable standards, including CS 29 and Def-Stan 00-970, using DOORS. Flight Test planning and estimation of flight activity in order to meet development and qualification requirements. Flight Test Proposals authored – Prototype Development Phase and Engine Installation; (incremental phases for prototype configuration changes) included LHTEC CTS800 engine installation, engine control law and rotor governing, flight characteristics and control margins, performance, H-V envelope.Flight Characteristics; included controls and trim, flight characteristics and control margin, longitudinal and lateral-directional stability, dynamic stability, low speed handling.Performance; includes PECs, Hover / Climb / Level Flight performance, H-V envelope.Human Machine Interface and Crew Workload.; includes cockpit layout and controls, Field of View, lighting, egress and mission workload.A109 Series – Nexus, S, SP, Light Utility Helicopter I worked with systems specialists to define Aircraft Limitations, Normal Procedures and Emergency Procedures for the Rotorcraft Flight Manual and Supplements for additional role kits in accordance with CS 27. I produced Production and Customer Acceptance Test Procedures.

EH101 and ChinookI managed multi-disciplined teams of civilian and military Trials Officers to conduct airworthiness assessments of military rotorcraft to provide *fit for purpose* and airworthiness advice. I was responsible for developing customer requirements, trials planning (technical and budget), trials risk and health and safety, trials conduct and timely delivery of customer reports.I was Technical Manager of a combined Fatigue and Operational Data Recording feasibility study flight test programme, consisting of design and embodiment of significant Flight Test Instrumentation and 90 flight test hours, and a number of simultaneous Urgent Operational Requirements.Areas of experience include * Environmental Testing / Rotorcraft Snow and Icing Flight Test InstrumentationAirworthiness requirements (JSPs, Def Stans) Health and Usage Monitoring System Aircrew Equipment Safety AnalysisDefensive Aids Suites / Electronic Warfare Mission Systems I have approximately 100 hours Flight Test Observer experience, mainly on Merlin (EH101) and Chinook.; Test and Evaluation Graduate Training Scheme, QinetiQ,Aircraft Dynamics and Performance Verification of Operators Data Manual performance data for the Harrier GR7AElectronic Warfare Assessment of Radar Warning systems on the Tornado GR4.
