I act as the most senior person focused on a single consulting engagement, managing project teams and various work streams to produce output for our clients in a fast-paced environment. I regularly present findings during regular client touch points and work collaboratively with our client partners to refine and co-develop project deliverables. Project work spans both corporate strategy engagements (e.g., new market entry, go-to-market strategy, profitability improvement) and due diligence projects (both buy-side and sell-side). Key responsibilities include day-to-day team management and guidance, refining output, developing PowerPoint presentations for client touch points, performing and overseeing primary / secondary research, analyzing client and market data, working with teams to develop market models (and other analytical models as needed), synthesizing findings into executive-level and investment-grade reports, and presenting findings to both internal and external teams.

After my original summer internship was cancelled due to COVID, I joined a small team at Vermont Law School analyzing the current situation at the school and helped provide insights for strategic and financial planning purposes. This included examining the school’s enrollment trends, finances, operations, and strategic initiatives through synthesizing data and interviewing faculty and staff. I attended and provided materials for various committee and board meetings, including for the Board of Trustees.

Intellectual Property (and other practices) -- During my time as an Analyst, I worked with various project teams and leads across the firm, both in terms of practice and geography. Such engagements included software copyright infringement, Clean Air Act noncompliance (fuels and auto), ability to pay analyses, assessment of alleged anticompetitive behavior, breach of contract damages, patent infringement damages, economic impact assessment, regulatory filings (for utilities), and commercial success as a secondary indication of nonobviousness of patent validity. I additionally took on a larger role in mentoring new members to both my team and office and helped provide guidance on best practices, excel and coding tricks, and preparing various deliverables. I continued to be heavily involved in NERA's recruiting efforts and additionally assisted in business development opportunities and events for the firm's Intellectual Property practice.

Such engagements include antitrust ability to pay and alleged anticompetitive behavior analyses, FIFRA data compensation, NAFTA damages arbitration, economic impact assessment, trade secret misappropriation, commercial success as a secondary indication of nonobviousness of a patent, patent infringement, and economic assessment of noncompliance with government regulations. Select associated industries for projects performed as an Associate Analyst include telecommunications, environmental remediation, public utilities/power, automobiles, high tech, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, defense/military, and consumer entertainment products.In contrast to my previous roles, I gained additional autonomy and responsibility over developing analyses and reports/written testimony. I contributed valuable insights used in developing damages arguments and took on an increasingly managerial role in allocating tasks to other team members in developing work products. As a critical member of generally small teams consisting of my manager, myself, and some checkers, I played a vital role in both the analysis and high-level narrative used in reports/testimony. I increasingly also engaged directly with clients and attorneys, either over the phone or in person, and was fortunate to attend testimony arbitration on occasion.

Intellectual Property -- In October 2016, I switched to NERA's Intellectual Property practice ("IP"). As described above in my current role as an Associate Analyst, my work generally involved calculating damages related to patent infringement, trade secret misappropriation, and other misused intellectual property rights. During my time as a Associate Analyst, I also performed considerable work outside typical "IP" and worked on a few antitrust projects. As generally delineated in my above roles, albeit with less oversight as an RA, my typical responsibilities included: analyzing historical and projected financials in excel; researching relevant data such as interest rates, cost of capital, and risk premiums; reviewing documents produced during litigation such as depositions and declarations; researching background information to be used in modeling and writing sections of reports; developing damages models in excel; examining documentary support for costs claimed; calculating financial ratios; and helping to produce charts, spreadsheets, and other related materials for clients as needed. I also frequently supported my superiors by developing economic arguments as well as drafting sections of reports, written testimony, and articles.

Energy/Environment -- As a Research Associate in NERA's Energy/Environment practice in Boston, I helped provide advisory services and financial analysis used in expert testimony and settlement negotiations. During my time in the practice, I worked on projects in both energy (e.g., electric, natural gas, pipeline services, etc.) and environment (e.g., EPA policy-related). My work involved performing both research and economic analyses, as well as writing memos and sections of client reports.

I worked for NERA Economic Consulting within the Energy group during my junior spring while in college. I helped provide financial analysis to support expert testimony on over five major cases in related energy fields such as electric retail and gas pipelines and exploration. During my time at NERA, I developed my excel skills, practiced reading financial statements, performed research on industry related materials for both cases and future industry developments, and learned how to provide work materials catered to specific client needs.

I served as a Global Wealth and Investment Management Intern during my Sophomore spring term. I was involved with various projects, including coming up with a new pricing strategy and ranking consult performances. Day to day responsibilities included interacting with clients (phone calls and in person), adhering to policies on client correspondence (such as making copies and getting approval from managers), and aiding in creating new accounts and filing the respective forms appropriately.

As a coach for the Scarsdale Municipal Pool summer swim team, I helped run practices during the week and dealt with issues as they arose. I was primarily a coach for the pre-team, where I taught children age 4-6 how to swim so they could join the competitive team in the future, but also provided general coaching support and frequently interacted with parents.
