Worked as Deputy District Attorney primarily managing a county court docket. Negotiated plea agreements with defense attorneys and defendants and litigated cases that were contested. Litigation included constitutional motions hearings, jury trials, and restitution hearings. Also would present sentencing information and arguments following convictions or guilty pleas.

Received course credits for externship with the District Attorney's Office. I was able to practice law under Colorado's Student Practice Act. I was first chair for a bench trial, assisted on a complicated felony theft trial, and presented evidence and argument on a few constitutional motions hearings. Also basically managed a docket under the supervision of a licensed attorney. The docket management was primarily plea negotiating with pro se defendants. This externship resulted in a job offer and my first job after graduating law school was with this office.

I was an intern primarily working with a Public Defender who was assigned to the offices Homicide Task Force, dealing only with homicide cases. Mostly did legal research and drafted memorandums of law for evidentiary issues and sentencing guidelines.
