When I was 22, I believed the key to my own happiness was becoming rich and spoiling my loved ones with money and stuff. I chased wealth relentlessly, convinced that financial success would fill the void I felt inside and make me worthy of love and respect. For a while, it seemed to work. I climbed the corporate ladder and lived what looked like a dream life from the outside. But beneath the surface, my relationship with money was toxic and unsustainable.I was living paycheck to paycheck despite my high income, racking up credit card debt, and constantly stressed about finances. I used shopping and spending as a way to numb my emotions and avoid dealing with deeper issues. My self-worth became completely tied to my net worth, creating a vicious cycle of earning and spending that left me feeling empty and unfulfilled. Then it all came crashing down. In July 2005, my habits caught up with me, leaving me drowning in debt with no savings to fall back on. My relationships suffered as I could no longer maintain the lifestyle I thought defined me. My relationship with money nearly destroyed my life.Rock bottom became the foundation on which I rebuilt my life. I realized I needed to transform my mindset around money and success. Despite my deep sense of shame and regret, I sought the help I needed and began the hard work of healing my relationship with myself and money. As I began my financial recovery I met Jim Gebhardt, who became not just a mentor but a dear friend and eventually my business partner. Together, we discovered the concept of Financial Sobriety - a holistic approach to wealth management that addresses the emotional and psychological aspects of our financial lives. I learned to align my spending with my values, to find fulfillment beyond material possessions, and to build true wealth - not just in my bank account, but in my relationships and personal growth. Our work in Financial Sobriety evolved into what we now call The Whole Wealth Journey. We realized that true wealth encompasses so much more than just financial assets. It's about being intentional with every aspect of your life - your finances, your relationships, and your personal growth. My journey from financial disaster to helping others has been transformative. It's shown me that when we heal our relationship with money, we open the door to growth in every area of our lives. If you're ready to get unstuck and embark on your own Whole Wealth Journey, remember that it's not just about the numbers in your bank account - it's about creating a life of true abundance, purpose, and joy.
