Mechanical engineer at Tesla directly responsible for the mechanical cell components and overall cell mechanical architecture. Founding member of Tesla’s cell design team. Co-inventor of the Tesla Tabless Jellyroll and the 4680 cell. Created the first concepts and A/B phase prototypes of the Gen 1 crimped cell.Created the first concepts and A/B phase prototypes of the Gen 2 laser welded cell. Developed the parts, fixtures, and processes used to establish the plan of record cell design used in the Model Y structural battery and the Cybertruck. Improved the safety of the 4680 battery cell by designing and building cells with specially designed features to address catastrophic thermal cell failure in coordination with the safety / pack engineering teams. Led several advanced mechanical concepts to improve ESR, sealing, part cost, thermal management, and manufacturing simplifications.

R&D Engineering Product Team leader for a new Ultracapacitor Cell platform. Led the design of a new cell concept through prototyping and early equipment planning. The new cross section included state of the art for low ESR, Shock/Vibration resistance, and was designed for both a radial and axial cell configuration for PCB or Bus Bar interfaces. Successfully prototyped cells and demonstrated excellent performance in mechanical & electrochemical testing.

I led the design of test enabling systems used for testing development jet engines and their components. These systems are prototype engine hardware used to simulate parts of the engine or aircraft that are not present for engine/component level tests. The test hardware experiences higher loads than production hardware, and must be designed before product hardware is even defined. My expertise is mechanical engineering and design of complex static systems. I also specialize in the design of components subject to hot and harsh environments under high mechanical and vibratory loads. For each design, I own the entire product development lifecycle, from the concept stage to production and use. Provided customized engineering solutions for customers in the oil & gas sector. Major accomplishments:-Designed new tooling to help overhaul hydraulic decoking system components. This tooling enabled the customer to remove components off of their line without taking the entire line down, which greatly reduced the cost and lead time of the overhaul -Integrated a communication system into the plant to monitor the hydraulic decoking process. This added an additional measure of safety for the operator, and enabled remote process monitoring to reduce tool wear and cycle time.
