I’m Matt. Lead Content Designer - Wealth UsTd Feb 2023 - Jan 2024Toronto, Ontario, CaIn 12 months, our Agile product team designed the new TD Wealth Client Portal (TDWCP). I created the platform's voice, content strategy, and UX writing.• TD Wealth clients used to log into two separate third-party platforms. We've worked to pull clients' data through APIs into one sleek experience.• The team worked in four phases: exploration (competitive research and 12 user interviews), ideation and prototyping, a round of 21 user tests, and official design of version 1.• My goal was to make the platform clear, conversational, compelling, and compliant. To do this, I set the research objectives of the exploration and user testing phases. I later organized participants' responses into actionable insights, which shaped the platform's information architecture and the personalization criteria for articles, podcasts, and video content on our 'Learning & insights' page.Result — With a great user experience, the TDWCP (1.0) is poised to amplify TD Wealth's client acquisition and retention. It has broad internal stakeholder engagement and support. It elevates the TD brand and empowers TD Wealth to compete with other large firms. As of writing, TDWCP 1.0 is under construction. -
Communications & Ux Content Lead - Hq DigitalDigital Currency Group Feb 2022 - Jan 2023Stamford, Connecticut, UsHQ Digital was the innovative family office of Digital Currency Group (DCG), a community of HNW executives on the forefront of tech and finance. I managed HQ's communications, voice, and content creation.• HQ began as a startup in beta mode, a team of experts serving some of the biggest players in the blockchain and fintech economy.• By the end of 2022, we needed to refine and deliver on our value proposition—a complex task given the team's vast range of expertise. In early 2022, we hadn't yet embraced the term "family office."• I developed HQ's content approach through competitive research, audience research, analytics, and client interviews. I identified two key points: (1) our clients' main reason to join was to be in a unique community of peers, and (2) after joining, they most needed guidance in wealth, tax, and risk management. I planned our content strategy around these two points.Result — With community as our distinguishing factor and wealth management as the 'tip of the spear' in our services, engagement doubled in HQ's app and increased 50% in our newsletter. Ultimately, this communications strategy was part of a team effort that earned $10M in AUM and converted 22 "beta members" into clients before HQ's official launch. -

Funding renewals were often in question.• My mission was to maximize our programs' impact and stabilize our grant funding.• By building recurring relationships with foundations, I managed grant proposals at a 66.7% success rate. Working with APMF and Lakehouse leadership, I helped put new innovations into the programs. I taught several of the programs myself.Result — In under four years, we raised over $1,000,000 in grant funding, doubled the number of students in our Scholarship program, added three more programs with community partners, stabilized annual funding for most programs, and changed the lives of over 800 students. -

HEARD is a group at Ithaca College (IC) that brings creative arts experiences to incarcerated youth.• In HEARD's pilot year, it was a weekly class in IC's music school where students visited the residents of MacCormick Secure Center. That year they recorded 11 songs. I joined a 'Proposal & Grant Writing' course, writing HEARD's grant proposal materials. • There wasn't time to secure funding for another year, and IC discontinued the HEARD music class. I said, "Let's start a student group."• That summer, and through the following year, I wore another hat—Music Teacher in MacCormick's school program. That fall, I gathered HEARD's closest students and professors, registered the student organization, and began recruiting. In the first year we gained 30 members and partnered with 12 other groups to bring the arts to MacCormick. After I graduated, I remained HEARD's coordinator and mentor for three years.Result — In my four years with HEARD, we raised over $250,000 from internal (IC) and external funders. We established an organization that has now engaged hundreds of college students and 200+ MacCormick residents in life-changing arts education. -
