About Matthew Imbler, Mpa, Phr
Several years ago, I found myself climbing Mt. Olympus. No, not that Mt. Olympus, though the Greek gods probably had nearly as tough a time climbing up and back. On my way up to its peak one warm July morning, I found myself trailing a group of Boy Scouts, one of whom was my oldest son. The farther we ascended, the more difficult I found it to keep up. My legs ached, I was lightheaded, and I just couldn’t seem to close the gap. I thought about quitting so many times. But despite the heat, high altitude, mental and physical fatigue, and trail mix overdose, I kept going. I made it to the top, and back down again. I’m that guy. I persevere. I conquer. Once I say I’ll do something, it will happen. I bring this same attitude and experience to my work as the Associate Controller and Administrative Services Manager at the BYU Law School. I work mostly with educational finances and human resources, and many days I find myself doing a little bit of everything. Though I often feel like a jack-of-all-trades, it doesn’t mean I’m master of none. I find that acquiring new knowledge and skills results in new perspectives and opportunities. The more you learn, the easier it gets!I’m passionate about education, travel, and music. When I’m not at work or with my family, you’ll find me combining all of my passions, whether it be managing a 500 member choral and orchestral organization that teaches and encourage excellence in quality sacred and classical music or traveling with the Boy Scouts to a National Youth Leadership Training. With 17+ years experience in local nonprofit and educational organizations, I’m well-versed in human resource and relationship management, operations, and logistics coordination and scheduling. I’ve also got great computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Photoshop, and Lightroom. My wife Angenette and I have eight children and enjoy living in Lehi, where each day, urban and rural experiences collide to shape and enrich our lives.
