I built Figma's Growth Engineering team from scratch up to the announcement of Figma's acquisition by Adobe. The Growth team is responsible for the health of the self-serve business.Selected work I'm proud to have supported:- Building and evolving Figma's tracking and experimentation systems.- Introducing and running Figma's engineering mentorship program.- Refreshing Figma's starter plan to better expose Figma's value prop. ((To be super clear: I'm saying I got to be part of that journey, not that it's because of me))- I grew the team from just me to 24 engineers and 3 managers/leads over 3 years. There were 0 departures during this time.My role as Eng Manager on the team is to help build and grow the best team possible. I believe that effective feedback is the core of effective work and that the best talent is distributed among people of all backgrounds.

I spent my first year at Figma working on the Infrastructure team. Among other things, I helped rollout our public REST API, build our GDPR compliance tooling and setup infrastructure for our marketing site.In my second year at Figma I started the Growth team with one other engineer. During that year I laid a bunch of foundations for Growth framework including our initial experiment framework, tracking libraries and Responsive Content System (RCS).

Early stage startup (~7 people) founded by Kim Scott author of the book Radical Candor. We were trying to build tools to help managers be better managers! I loved this work first because I love the energy of buiding an early product pre-product market fit and second because the concepts of bringing humanity to the workplace resonate with me deeply

Selbi was an OfferUp / Facebook Marketplace competitor for buying and selling used goods. We launched iOS and Android apps in 3 months and I sold my car to a friend via the app. We got an offer of seed funding and when we discussed accepting it, we realized we didn't want to go farther with the project and decided to shut it down. All of the code is now available on Github.

I was responsible for technical leadership on the Search and Indexing team as well as traditional people management responsibilities (eg. performance and comp review).
