Hello,I have been a chartered engineer working, for many years, in the building consultancy industry as a designer of buildings. My job title with Arup was Associate Director. I am a mechanical engineer. So, what have I been doing?Designing buildings involves the coming together and collaboration of different people with different aspirations: Clients, architects, engineers, contractors and other professionals. I have been involved in leading and managing this process through varied projects including £600M airport terminal buildings down to £100k nursery school extensions. Project teams over which I had influence comprise 100s of people down to a hand full. I have directly led engineering teams of 15 professional people. The skills and processes required for these projects might vary in extent but are similar in their breadth and complexity.
