City Year’s mission is to build democracy through citizen service, civic leadership and social entrepreneurship. It is through service that we can demonstrate the power and idealism of young people, engage citizens to benefit the common good, and develop young leaders of the next generation.My role:• Improved team role structures, internal training, onboarding, and performance management systems • Lead nine teams of Americorps members providing academic support, college and career preparation, and community service experience to over 10,000 Philadelphia public high school students• Secured over $40,000 in grants, donations and inkinds • Created new recruitment strategies and marketing initiatives to attract a talented and diverse workforce• Designed and implemented a study of City Year’s high school program academic support including surveys, focus groups, observations, and creating a database, informed future placement, training and evaluation • Wrote curriculum for career exploration, financial literacy and conflict resolution • Built, fostered, and maintained partnerships with schools, community organizations and corporate partners that in collaboration have helped to improve the both the quality and quantity of City Year’s impact in the community• Organized volunteer events to beautify and build capacity for urban community organizations with up to 1000 participants• Designed 10 Murals, which are brightening public elementary schools • Promoted from Corps Member to Project Manager after one year, then promoted again to Senior Project Manager
