Startup Corps empowers high school students to be active, engaged participants in their education by leveraging their passions and teaching them the skills necessary to start something real.Between 2009 and 2012, over 70 high school students within the City of Philadelphia have worked with Startup Corps to launch for-profit ventures, non-profit social enterprises, school clubs, and movements of like-minded individuals. Music labels, neighborhood clean-up projects, a restaurant, and software development companies are just some of the student led initiatives that have resulted. While each outcome is unique, most students learn that nurturing an idea from a concept to reality is hard work, but achievable if you are motivated and are empowered by a supportive network.In 2013 Startup Corps converted from a nonprofit entity to a for-profit entity called School Yard Ventures. School Yard Ventures continues the mission of Startup Corps to empower teens to start entrepreneurial ventures. https://www.schoolyardventures.com/My role:• Trained & Coached Startup Corps teachers. • Co-wrote the 2011/12 Startup Corps Curriculum • Recruited over 70 mentors to help guide and resource youth entrepreneurs• Planned and organized a youth elevator pitch competition with 67 attendees• Planned and organized a youth entrepreneurship expo with 256 attendees• Taught 3 cohorts of youth entrepreneurs & helped them launch micro-enterprises.

The Fox School’s nationally ranked MBA program combines a high-impact curriculum, internationally-recognized faculty, real-world experience, and team-based learning to provide aspiring business professionals with a dynamic and rewarding learning experience.My role:• Responsible for planning and implementing 4 week orientation for 55 MBA Students• Strategic planning, learning objectives, budget, logistics, communications, and external partnerships

City Year’s mission is to build democracy through citizen service, civic leadership and social entrepreneurship. It is through service that we can demonstrate the power and idealism of young people, engage citizens to benefit the common good, and develop young leaders of the next generation.My role:• Improved team role structures, internal training, onboarding, and performance management systems • Lead nine teams of Americorps members providing academic support, college and career preparation, and community service experience to over 10,000 Philadelphia public high school students• Secured over $40,000 in grants, donations and inkinds • Created new recruitment strategies and marketing initiatives to attract a talented and diverse workforce• Designed and implemented a study of City Year’s high school program academic support including surveys, focus groups, observations, and creating a database, informed future placement, training and evaluation • Wrote curriculum for career exploration, financial literacy and conflict resolution • Built, fostered, and maintained partnerships with schools, community organizations and corporate partners that in collaboration have helped to improve the both the quality and quantity of City Year’s impact in the community• Organized volunteer events to beautify and build capacity for urban community organizations with up to 1000 participants• Designed 10 Murals, which are brightening public elementary schools • Promoted from Corps Member to Project Manager after one year, then promoted again to Senior Project Manager

C.O.P.E. is an acronym for "Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience." a COPE Course is a custom built challenge course or ropes course designed for the Boy Scouts of America. The seven C.O.P.E. goals are summarized as:Teamwork, Communication, Trust, Leadership, Decision Making, Problem Solving. Self-Esteem. My role:• Conducted needs analysis and designed leadership and team building program tailored to client objectives• Managed weekend team and leadership building program, with low and high ropes courses• Launched a marketing campaign which doubled the number of scouts using the course and increased revenue for the council• Reformulated the inventory system for equipment and reduced supply costs.• Recruited and trained instructor staff.
