About Matthew J. Johnson

I am currently a Ph.D. candidate studying in the Biological Sciences department at Columbia University with a focus in Molecular Biology and Genetics. As a member of Lorraine Symington’s lab, I study the molecular mechanisms of DNA repair pathways and genome instability. My passion for this field stems from my desire to better understand the molecular mechanisms of disease progression, including cancer pathogenesis. I previously graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry from Tufts University while working as a research assistant in Catherine Freudenreich’s lab.
