After significant personal mentoring by faithful teachers at West Chester Christian School, I enrolled at Clarks Summit University to pursue a secondary education degree with the goal of following their lead and giving my life to Christian education.Upon graduation and marriage to Rosemary in 1985, I returned to my high school alma mater to teach Bible & History and coach basketball & soccer. Working with middle and high school students for the next five years was as fulfilling and rewarding as I hoped. In 1990, we moved to Lancaster, CA to become High School Principal at Bethel Christian School. Providing leadership of the 7th-12th grade program also included coaching middle school boys soccer and high school boys basketball.I was then hired by my college alma mater, CSU. I began as Financial Counselor and also assisted the men's basketball program. Within a year, I moved into the Office for Student Development, serving as Associate Dean of Students. Rosemary took leadership of a women's residence hall, and we moved into the center of campus life with our four daughters. I also earned a M.S. in Counseling degree during this period. Coaching girls basketball on the high school and then collegiate level was also very fulfilling. In 2008, upon the retirement of my mentor, Dr. Friedie Loescher, I became Dean of Students under oversight by another long-time mentor, Dr. Jim Lytle. Leading campus life; residence halls, student activities, intercollegiate athletics, health and safety was one of the greatest experiences I have had.In 2013, I accepted the offer to become Headmaster at Grace Baptist Academy (Early Childhood Ed., Pre-K - 12th) in Chattanooga, TN. I love this partnership with parents to provide a high quality, Biblically-integrated education. We have embarked on a steady climb into stronger positions in this competitive market. Arguably, the most significant event in our tenure at Grace happened just before midnight on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 as our campus took a direct hit by an E3 tornado causing catastrophic damage in less than two minutes. A development plan that had focused on the addition of facilities and programs was largely an ongoing remodel: now it is a complete rebuild. Therefore, in God's sovereign plan, Grace Baptist Church and Academy is being transformed!To sharpen my skills, I also invested in further graduate studies, earning a M.Ed. in Educational Administration in 2020 and now serve as an online adjunct instructor for Clarks Summit University in their graduate program for Educational Administration.
