My career has been quite eclectic, yet with two constants: I love growing businesses and have enjoyed considerable success across diverse industries. Working in the front office of professional sports teams was a natural fit, as I’ve always been team-oriented and love competing. Successes with major and minor league hockey and soccer organizations created memories I'll cherish for the rest of my life and a conviction in teamwork as a driver for extraordinary results. My next chapter involved honing my sales and entrepreneurial skills within the luxury jewelry industry. With two great partners, we founded Ascot Diamonds in Atlanta. Our uniqueness was providing clients with access to an unparalleled diamond inventory, world-class jewelry design and impeccable craftsmanship at tremendous value versus traditional retail options. Revenues grew at 2-3x for many years and Ascot remains a thriving business today with showrooms in Atlanta, Charlotte, New York, Dallas, Charleston, Philadelphia and Washington, DC. I remain the owner/operator of our Charlotte location as we continue to strive towards new plateaus within the luxury jewelry space. In 2015 a private equity firm asked me to evaluate their investment in Charleston Beverage Company, makers of Charleston Mix Bloody Mary. At the time the brand was primarily available on a local basic in South Carolina. I saw potential and agreed to stay on to attempt to transform the business. Fast-forward to the end of my tenure and the brand was available in over 6,500 points of retail distribution and 2,500 bars, restaurants and package stores. Our growth strategy led to sales increases that averaged 50% per year over four years, and the brand is currently the #1 selling craft Bloody Mary mix in the United States for several years running.I then put my experience to work with Seaside Grown and Frogmore Bottling Company, two South Carolina Lowcountry companies connected with a rich 115+ year history of sustainable farming. Their true Field to Glass® products and state-of-the-art co-packing facility is now leading them to successful harvests within both the CPG and bottling industries. Good people have given me an array of opportunities, and I have given them aggressive growth and profits in short time periods. I’m always looking to put my proven history to work on a new challenge. FounderRipple Effect Growth Advisors 2015 - PresentBusinesses of every size hit that crucial moment where change happens. Whether it’s jumping on a trend or turning an organization around, it’s the point where a key decision sets the course for the future. We work with companies large and small to help them make the right decisions. We bring active listening and extensive experience to every engagement to help define the situation, evaluate the options and inform the choices organizations make to move forward. Simply put, we help teams that are overloaded or overwhelmed leverage their strengths and find some clarity to make the right call to elevate, accelerate and streamline business. We’ve helped little bitty brands expand into national footprints and we’ve helped solo practitioners achieve success with life balance. We value a true-blue sense of teamwork, and we don’t work with people who are afraid to roll up their sleeves and dig in. At the end of the day, we define success as a solid plan backed by data and a team energized by picking a path and hitting the gas. High fives and high-ramp growth charts are a common side effects, and we love being a part of the engine that generates plenty of both. If you know your organization needs a better path forward but don’t know how to get there – we can help your team get on track. -
Business Growth AdvisorSeaside Grown Aug 2020 - Aug 2023The Seaside Grown family of brands stems from 115+ years of rich farming history in the Sea Island area of South Carolina. Deeply rooted as the 1st commercial tomato farm on the East Coast, the legacy of Seaside Farms continues to grow as they proudly pick and ship 25+ million pounds of tomatoes each season.Only about 75% of the tomatoes make it off the farm, with most of the remaining ones being too “ripe for market”, which means they are perfect for farm-fresh products such as Seaside Grown Bloody Mary mixes, salsas, sauces and jams. All Seaside Grown products are made by hand in their own private kitchen & bottling facility (Frogmore bottling Company) located near the fields, which means it’s literally just a matter of hours between a tomato being harvested and bottled Field to Glass®. It’s that fresh! My role was to assist the team with acquiring new revenue streams within multiple channels, nurturing & building relationships with key retail & distribution partners, advising on product manufacturing & line extensions and assisting with investor communications. -
