Matt's practice focuses on franchise and distribution law and general corporate law. Matt has extensive experience representing and counseling franchise systems in all stages of development, and assists them in developing, protecting and licensing their franchise systems by creating and registering Franchise Disclosure Documents and by drafting other critical operational documents like franchise and license agreements.As a litigator, Matt represented his franchise clients through mediation, arbitration, and litigation involving encroachment, monetary defaults, federal Lanham Act violations, legal releases, system standards defaults, and compliance with state and federal laws and business transfers. Additionally, he has represented non-franchise individuals and companies in litigation involving contract disputes, covenants not to compete, wrongful termination claims, civil fraud, and Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act claims. Matt relies on this experience when counseling his organizational clients and creating their operational documents.Matt frequently serves as a guest speaker on franchise issues at events around the country.
