Hello! I am a physicist and programmer with a passion for mitigating the climate crisis. I received my B.S. in Physics with a focus in Computational Physics, summa cum laude, from West Virginia University in 2021. While at WVU, I was afforded many amazing opportunities to learn from and collaborate with world-class researchers in experimental and computational plasma physics. A few of these projects include: measurement of the quantum hyperfine structure of singly-ionized atomic iodine using a novel approach to the spectroscopic technique of laser-induced fluorescence (LIF), resulting in my first peer-reviewed, first-author paper; leading a small team of peers in measuring space weather with Langmuir probes mounted on a CubeSat and without consistent GPS data; and completing a DoE SULI internship with the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, where I worked with a PhD student to develop a machine learning model to diagnose plasma temperatures and densities in real time within a lower region of the NSTX-U fusion reactor.I have additionally represented my peers as president of my high school student council, an officer in the WVU chapter of the Society of Physics Students, and later president of the same. These leadership experiences, and many more, have taught me valuable lessons about organizing people and creating a sense of community. Such skills are also necessary for fighting climate change, as such an extensive challenge requires decisive planning and perseverance. In 2021, I joined the WVU plasma physics PhD program, where I continued working on space weather measurements, and joined another project measuring ion interaction with the electron-only magnetic reconnection phenomena observed in the PHAse Space MApping experiment by furthering development of an LIF technique to determine ion temperature over time.I left WVU at the end of 2022, having come to the realization that my true ambition lies in fighting climate change. I wish to take the skills and expertise I have gained and apply them to the biggest challenge of our time, a path which I expect will take me many different places. My current plan is to relocate to the Seattle area within the next two years, where I may pursue a MS or PhD in climate science, or continue working on implementing climate solutions directly.

Strategic Engagement VistaPhiladelphia Department Of Labor Office Of Worker Protections Aug 2024 - PresentPhiladelphia, Pennsylvania, United StatesWorking with the Philadelphia Office of Worker Protections via an Americorps Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) position to build the Office's capacity for enforcing labor laws that protect working Philadelphians' fair treatment and pay under the law. I am working to streamline case management for workers' rights violations cases by consolidating and analyzing the data pipeline that breaks down key issues faced by the working folks of Philadelphia, including wage theft, fair scheduling under the City's Fair Workweek law, language access, and education about worker rights.

Graduate Research AssistantWest Virginia University Jul 2021 - Dec 2022Morgantown, West Virginia, United StatesPhD student and GRA in Dr. Earl Scime's experimental plasma group at WVU. Worked on LIF measurements of ion heating during magnetic reconnection in the PHAse Space MApping (PHASMA) experiment and space weather observations with the STF-1 CubeSat (stf1.com). Previously worked on the construction of the PHASMA experiment and LIF measurements of the hyperfine structure of iodine to help make it a more viable spacecraft fuel. -
Undergraduate Research AssistantWest Virginia University Oct 2017 - Jul 2021Morgantown, West Virginia, United StatesWorked with three different research professors at WVU: Fall 2017 with Dr. Loren Anderson on Surveying of Galactic HII Regions; Fall 2018 with Dr. Maura McLaughlin on Radio Timing Observations of Rotating Radio Transient Pulsars; Summer 2019 with Dr. Earl Scime constructing the PHAse Space MeAsurements (PHASMA) experiment; Fall 2019-Present with Dr. Earl Scime and NASA IV&V on Observations of Space Weather with the STF-1 CubeSat, and on novel diagnostics for iodine plasma to explore usage as fuel for ion thrusters -
Undergraduate Teaching AssistantWest Virginia University Jan 2018 - May 2021Morgantown, West Virginia, United StatesWorked as a grader for several WVU courses, including: Descriptive Astronomy (ASTR 106), Spring 2018; and General Physics II (PHYS 112), Fall 2019-Spring 2021. -
Summer InternPrinceton Plasma Physics Laboratory (Pppl) Jun 2020 - Aug 2020Princeton, New Jersey, United StatesParticipated in a US Dept. of Energy Student Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI) at PPPL; due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project was developed remotely.Worked with PPPL staff to build a neural network-based Python program to automate the analysis of Langmuir probe data from the National Spherical Tokamak Experiment, to diagnose plasma parameters such as temperature and density. -
Student MentorGreen Bank Observatory Jul 2018 - Aug 2018Green Bank, West Virginia, United StatesWorked as a student mentor for the 2018 West Virginia Governor's STEM Institute, a two-week summer camp held at the Green Bank Observatory where 9th-grade West Virginia students are given a unique opportunity to work with two mentors and a team of their peers on a radio astronomy project; my student team used the Green Bank Telescope to identify two pulsars. I additionally held several classes for students, teaching introductory programming skills and concepts using Python.
