I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Florida State University. My research centers on using experimental and quasi-experimental research designs to measure the impacts of education programs and policies. I typically study topics at the intersection of education and economics, especially teacher labor markets, career and technical education, peer effects, and school choice.Prior to FSU, I was a Strategic Data Project Fellow at the Wake County Public School System in greater Raleigh and studied state education policies at the Southern Regional Education Board in Atlanta. I also taught middle school in Atlanta as a Teach for America corps member and co-founded education technology company BetterLesson. I studied economics and Russian at Wesleyan University and political science at Georgia State University.I am active in several professional organizations, including the American Educational Research Association (AERA), Association for Education Finance and Policy (AEFP), Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management (APPAM), and Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness (SREE).
