I am a Registered Nurse with 24 years experience (15 years experience as a Nurse Unit Manager). I believe that a good workplace culture is everything. A great culture is achieved when team members feel a sense of belonging, understand how they contribute to outcomes, feel challenged and comfortable to speak up. If you get the team and culture right, then you get great care, and anything is possible! I am passionate about supporting, coaching, and motivating my direct reports. I feel this is the best way to get them to shine and team members to work together. I believe that expressing “Gratitude” is an essential part of the working day as it is an easy way to let staff know that they are appreciated and heading in the right direction. I also support peer to peer feedback as an effective way of building teams. I am also a published nurse researcher and experienced in running several quality improvement projects. I have experience working with and leading large nursing teams and managing a 40-bed unit. I also work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team. Some of my additional skills include: •Workforce development and planning (Succession planning and leadership coaching)•Recruitment, selection, and onboarding•Managing large budgets, writing business cases and funding grants •Change management, public speaking, teaching, practice improvement, project management, policy development, crisis management, occupational health and safety•Patient experience and service recovery. One of my greatest achievements was when the ward that I was managing was converted into a Hot Covid Positive Ward in 2020. I led a team that successfully managed to have no locally acquired staff infections on the ward. In was a stressful time we all worked together, cared for patients and delivered amazing outcomes.
