I joined UNHCR, the U.N. Refugee Agency, in 2019 and have since played several roles including: Europe Editor, Communications Officer and Acting Head of Events. Prior to that I worked for two decades as an international journalist for Reuters, the world's biggest news agency. I did postings in East and West Africa, the United States and Indonesia and worked as an editor based in London. I am a co-winner of a Loeb Prize for investigative reporting, the highest award for business journalism in the United States.I spent 14 years reporting in Africa on political transformation, conflict, economic development, human rights, public health and business. During that time, I reported from 26 countries across the continent and lived in Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya, Ivory Coast and Ghana.My core expertise is in news writing, multimedia storytelling, political and economic risk analysis, use of social media, team management, training, leadership and communications. I am deeply committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace.I hold a postgraduate diploma in journalism from City University, London, and an honors degree (2/1) in American Studies from the University of East Anglia. I speak French and am learning Italian.
