With the adoption of the EOS Business Model, the owners of bdh + young nominated and elected me to fill the Visionary role. The definition of a Visionary is “a person who has lots of ideas, is a strategic thinker, always sees the big picture, has a pulse on the industry, connects the dots, and researches and develops new products and services. The Visionary typically is the founding entrepreneur, operates more on emotion, and has ADD (but not always). This person is great with big relationships, the culture of the organization, and solving big, ugly problems (not the little ones); sees things others can’t; creates and holds the company vision; and is great at closing big deals. Visionaries are the creators of everything.”As Visionary, I am part of the bdh + young Leaderhip Team. I analyze overall market conditions in our three business sectors and strategize ways to grow the company to meet the goals established by the owners.

• Meet with clients to develop programming for project. Obtain and assemble data to complete architectural designs.• Analyze building codes, by-laws, interior space requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on interior architectural designs.• Develop and interpret programmatic information. • Manage development & completion of construction documents.• Manage development of fl oor plans for commercial buildings using AutoCAD and Revit software.• Present project design on behalf of clients at city planning commission meetings.• Oversee work of consultants and their drawings (ie: civil, electrical, mechanical, structural, etc.) to facilitate a completeproject design.• Oversee and manage work of Technical Designers and Interior Designers on his/her projects while keeping staff at minimum utilization rate of 85% with a project multiplier of minimum 3.2.• Attend construction site meetings to ensure contractor compliance with project design specifi cations and resolves any design issues.• Complete and /or manage shop drawing review process.• Participate in marketing and business development to assure bdh+young is the firm of choice for desired clients.• Establish new client relationships and secure new work; communicate with marketing staff to track and coordinate appropriate strategies and materials.• Represent firm at project ground breakings, grand openings, and other project related marketing activities.• Participate in industry marketing events to help secure future clients.
