Adegy Incubated 3: Telabout (Location-Based Technology)

Point-of-purchase product information at retail typically consisted of packaging, cardboard displays, and employee training. These programs can be expensive and their effectiveness can be difficult to track. Consequently, many retailers are turning to interactive kiosks that can collect data and digital signage that can be changed as needed. However, neither fully satisfies the shopper’s need for detailed and reliable information at the point-of-purchase. At TelAbout, we designed the first platform in the US with a kiosk and mobile application that dynamically interfaced with location-based servers via WiFi. The system was designed to allow retailers and businesses to provide their customers on-site product and marketing information as text, audio and video via a graphical user interface that is updateable and traceable by each product manufacturer and retailer via a web portal in real-time.
