Systems Safety Engineer with a diverse background that ranges from working on the front lines of patient care in hospitals, to working on emerging technology for biomedical devices, to overseeing safety for projects destined for flight onboard the International Space Station.I have always been intrigued by the capabilities of the human body, both here on Earth and now in space. I began my career in healthcare working as a nursing assistant and being on the front lines of patient care. While working on my Master's in Biomedical Engineering, with a focus in Medical Imaging and Signal Processing, I was fortunate enough to work on several projects related to developing and improving current and future medical devices and technologies aimed at improving people's every day lives. My focus was on individuals that were impacted by strokes, spinal cord injuries, or other neurological deficiencies. In my professional career, I moved from direct patient care to becoming a safety lead, first in the hospital setting and now in the aerospace industry. Working in such a wide range of fields with multi-disciplinary engineers has allowed me to gain a wide variety of knowledge throughout the engineering and medical world. Through my education and professional experiences, I have had the fortunate opportunity to work on product research and development through all stages of development, project management at multiple site locations, lean manufacturing, process and system design, risk management, and ISO 9001 and 13485 experience. My passion lies in the research and development of technologies to further our understanding of health, human performance, and our environment here on Earth and onward towards the moon and Mars.
