Senior member of legal department (directly reporting to Chief Legal Officer) for Hub International Limited, a leading global insurance brokerage and portfolio company of Hellman & Friedman, that provides a broad array of property and casualty, life and health, employee benefits, reinsurance, investment and risk management products and services throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Hub International is the most acquisitive broker in the United States and is currently ranked the 5th largest global broker. Head of mergers and acquisitions legal team at Hub, overseeing several attorneys and paralegals, responsible for a wide range of legal activities, including drafting and negotiating purchase agreements, letters of intent, joint venture and other partnership agreements, employment agreements, equity agreements and real estate agreements. Responsibilities include supervision, staffing and budgeting of outside counsel as well as the handling and staffing of acquisitions independently within (and management of) internal legal team. Work closely with the rest of the M&A business team both on active and targeted deals as well as general strategic planning and project management. Directly involved in various corporate best practice and process improvement initiatives, including contract management, template and form updates, external legal spend analysis, legal department hiring and structuring, etc. Hub’s mergers and acquisitions team closed over 85 acquisitions in 2021 and has consummated almost 700 acquisitions since Hub’s inception.

Member of Reed Smith’s Sports Group, with experience counseling major and minor league sports franchises in their daily operations, including the drafting and negotiation of sponsorship, concessions and variety of other agreements. Represented personal client (sourced and developed independently) minor league baseball concessions company Professional Sports Catering and management in sale to Levy Restaurants. Lead attorney for NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins’ annual local community outdoor ice rink construction project, working directly with then Director of Strategic Planning Rich Hixon. Negotiated ticket sales agreement on behalf of Pittsburgh Penguins with Ticketmaster, working directly with then Senior Vice President David Peart. Represented investor group led by Chuck Greenberg in bid to acquire NHL’s Dallas Stars.

Served as legal advisor and consultant to leading football coach agent, Bryan Harlan, on various projects involving college and NFL football coach and sports broadcaster employment and marketing contracts, focusing on contract review and negotiation. Negotiated and advised on contracts for Baltimore Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh, Northwestern University Head Football Coach Pat Fitzgerald, then Temple Head Football Coach Steve Addazio and then Bowling Green Head Football Coach Dave Clawson (currently Wake Forest). Served as legal advisor and consultant on various projects involving media rights agreements for collegiate properties, focusing primarily on contract analysis and database management, as well as in-house issues.

Negotiated, drafted and reviewed diverse and complex array of contracts involving marketing, advertising, licensing arrangements, product distribution and employment.
