Growing up, I didn’t know that industrial design existed, if I had, it might have sent me on a very different path. But after studying painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art and working for many years at Adobe Systems testing software, I met a person who helped me see the possibility of combining artistic impulse and technical curiosity into a professional practice. I put the gas pedal down and never looked back!I went back to school and ultimately graduated from the prestigious Cranbrook Academy of Art as a Florence Knoll scholar with a degree in 3D Design.I founded my own design studio. I completed a successful campaign on Kickstarter which taught me how to promote, produce, package, and ship hundreds of products to customers around the world. I hired a sales rep. I won a Red Dot Design, Best of the Best Award. I worked on a multi-postural workstation concept with Herman Miller. I produced a modular seating and table system for Tuohy Furniture. I established a design studio for Loll Designs and helped fill out the new product development pipeline for years to come. I also designed the facilities from cafe to workshop. Design is my life.In that time, I've been traveling extensively, running countless road races, keeping the grass green, and helping to raise my two daughters.Looking back it all seems to makes sense that I would wind up designing products for a living. But the path was circuitous. Fortunately there were markers along the path and people at key intersections to help guide me. I am indebted to them and the few who helped mentor me along the way in my development!I have also taught numerous aspiring product design students to help set them on a path to career fulfillment far more quickly than it took for me to do so!
