As elected chair and 2023 President of DSPANZ, I am responsible for the strategic direction of the industry association and the governance of its board, sub-committees and industry working groups. As President of DSPANZ, I am the co-chair of the ATO Strategic Working Group.

The Association of Digital Service Providers Australia New Zealand (DSPANZ), formerly ABSIA, is the non-profit industry association representing the world class business software sector in Australia and New Zealand. DSPANZ has a proven track record of helping government agencies consult and work with the business software industry on major policies and projects that require technology-led solutions and change business to business or business to government processes. Over the years, our industry has helped streamline and transform payroll, superannuation, tax, accounting and finance operations by delivering new, secure digital solutions. This work is helping to fuel the digital economy while improving user experiences and government policy outcomes.Our members range from large, well-established companies through to new and nimble innovators who are working at the cutting edge of business software and app development on both sides of the Tasman.

For the past few years, I have represented software developers on several steering committees and strategic and technical working groups run by the Australian Tax Office. The Digital Business Council was established in November 2015 to support and facilitate the open exchange of digital transactions in Australia. Council has 15 members, bringing together key participants from the private and public sectors to focus on the development of digital business standards for Australian businesses.

Working closely with revenue agencies, professional associations and industry bodies across the region to ensure technical and regulatory compliance, my team is helping Xero achieve its vision of being the most insightful and trusted small business platform.As Head of Product Compliance APAC, I lead the team responsible for ensuring ongoing product compliance with regulatory and industry requirements in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. This includes conducting product compliance reviews of critical features and products.I lead our executive-level engagement with the Australian Tax Office and New Zealand Inland Revenue, and key professional associations and industry bodies. Internally, I am a trusted advisor to executive-level business and product leadership. I support our global Product Operations function and our regional APAC go-to-market functions. I am a continuing member of the Security Governance Group.Externally, I am the voice of Xero’s perspective on OECD Tax Administration 3.0 and its impacts on small businesses and intermediaries, the emergence of the API economy and its cybersecurity conseconsequent, and the future of the tax profession.Recent achievements include:* Development of a regulatory radar and ongoing analysis of OECD Tax Administration 3.0 and its potential impacts* Ongoing compliance and governance of regional security frameworks* Ongoing development of a regulatory definition of small business and impacts on software development* Development of an internal product compliance maturity model* Recruitment of compliance analysts and subject matter experts to support ANZ products

In recognition of Xero's growing leadership position within the Australian market, I succeeded the Heads of Accounting and Bookkeeping, respectively, in a newly created role as Head of Industry for Australia. In this new role, I worked across the accounting and technology sectors as the key driver of industry engagement, product co-design and emerging best practices. In this role, I also had shared responsibilities for government and industry relations with policy agencies.In this role, I made frequent media appearances (print, online, radio and television), representing Xero and its accounting partners on significant topics such as the Federal Budget, COVID-19 support, Open Banking, Cybersecurity and the small business economy.Key projects included:* COVID-19 assistance and JobKeeper support payment policy and technical development* First Xero employee to appear before a Parliamentary Committee or make statements onto Hansard* Representing Xero in the co-design process for numerous policy and regulatory changes including JobKeeper, Single Touch Payroll, COVID-19 support and the ATO Operational Security Framework* Project management for the rollout of Payroll Only and Payroll Cashbook plans in support of Single Touch Payroll* Driving the initial ISO27001 certification for Xero under the ATO Operational Security Framework and continuing ongoing compliance* Mass adoption and rollout of mandatory multifactor authentication for all Australian users of Xero and all overseas users with access to Australian data* Development of Xero's positions on Cybersecurity, Open Banking in Australia and the Consumer Data Right* Refreshed Xero Partner Program and the Xero Partner "Code of Conduct"* The initial version of Xero Small Business Insights (Australia only) and the State of the Industry reports* Frequent presentations and keynotes at leading industry conferences and events

I was the Senior Account Manager at Xero, responsible for financial planners and private wealth advisors nationwide. I managed relationships, created opportunities for financial advisors, licensee dealer groups, and financial institutions, and advised clients to come together using Xero Cashbook.Xero Cashbook was used as a cashflow and household budgeting tool for advised clients. I recruited and onboarded over 1000 new partners selling Xero Cashbook to wealth clients. I delivered over 200 live webinars in a single year and travelled the country in February, May and October, presenting at roadshows, conferences and industry events. At Xerocon Sydney in 2014, I curated, hosted and facilitated the Advisory content stream for accountants, financial planners and "connected advisors".When I accepted overall responsibility for the project management and go-to-market launch of Xero Tax in Australia, the Financial Advisor partner channel within Xero was absorbed into the broader partner program, where Xero Australia continues to be supported to this day.

Recruited from practice in Western Australia, I joined Xero when it was a small startup with less than 30 staff in Australia. As a Key Account Manager, I rolled out onboarding and training for enterprise and national firms as they joined the Xero Partner Program. I was responsible for the recruitment and education of new champions within Big 4, mid-tier and national accounting practices.I was also responsible for sales of Xero Personal and Xero Cashbook to private wealth advisors and financial planners. This subsequently evolved into the creation of a financial advisor reseller channel and my promotion to Senior Account Manager.

ABSIA is a Non-Profit Association that represents digital service providers in Australia and New Zealand. The organisation works closely with the Commonwealth and State agencies and as a peak body provides leadership and advocates for a thriving Australia New Zealand software industry.

Spare Parts Puppet Theatre is Australia’s champions for puppet theatre.We present five seasons a year at our home theatre in Fremantle, nurture the art form through our School of Puppetry and Emergent training program – FirstHand, perform in Festivals, corporate and community events and tour extensively through regional Western Australia and the world.
