I was sent to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina for Marine Corps Recruit Training (i.e. bootcamp). I earned my Eagle, Globe, and Anchor (the coveted symbol of the Marines) on September 11, 2010 and graduated one week later. Following Marine Corps Recruit Training, I was transferred to Marine Corps Camp Geiger in Jacksonville, North Carolina to the School of Infantry. I was assigned to the Marine Combat Training regiment to complete the one-month training school. After successful completion, I was transferred to Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida for Aviation Ordnance "A" school for three months. I successfully completed this school of training, and went to my final training school, which was the Aviation Ordnance "C" school at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point in North Carolina for three months. After successful completion, I transferred to my first duty station in the fleet. My total training time was nine months.I served under the U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Korea for a period of one year. I served as an Aviation Ordnance Technician charged with stowing and handling explosives, ammunition, and hazardous material in warehouses. My second duty station was with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 31 at MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina. I served as a maintenance technician with aircraft-related equipment and, when promoted to Corporal, served as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of a maintenance support shop. My final duty station was with MALS 24 at Marine Corps Base (MCB) Hawai'i, Kaneohe Bay. I began serving as the Assistant Supervisor for a maintenance shop and then transitioned to the Supervisor-in-charge, when I was promoted to Sergeant. Following this duty assignment, I became the NCOIC of records for Ordnance department. I was discharged from the Marine Corps while stationed at MCB Hawai'i.
