Originally from Michigan, Matt served as an Airborne-Ranger Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army, held major elective public office, and has worked in the private sector for over 26 years. Matt holds degrees from West Point and Harvard University. In 1987, Matt was elected as the youngest big city “strong” mayor in the United States (Flint, MI). Following his four-year stint as Flint's Chief Executive, Mr. Collier served in executive roles with several technology companies, including over 13 years of President & CEO experience, and company ownership. From 2015 to 2017, Matt served as Senior Advisor to Secretary at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. In this role, he spearheaded the Department’s strategy for public-private partnerships to better address and support the needs of Veterans. He is currently Founder and CEO of VetAccel Inc; Senior Advisor with Fieldstone Equity Partners; President of the Board of the Boston-based Concussion Legacy Foundation; Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Directors of One World, a non-profit youth leadership and character development organization based in New York; and is a member of the National Association of Veterans' Research and Education Foundations (NAVREF) board based in Washington, DC.An accomplished speaker, Matt has delivered keynote addresses at dozens of events and conferences around the world; as well as serving as a guest lecturer on effective leadership at numerous educational institutions in the US, including the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, UCLA’s Anderson School of Management, the University of Michigan (Flint), Pepperdine University, and at Kettering University (formerly GMI) in Flint.Matt currently resides in Flint, Michigan.
