City Reporter/Sports Editor
From September 2013 to April 2016 I had provided the Play by Play for the North Bay Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League. It was a demanding, fast paced, hectic job and I loved every second of it. The Battalion moved from my original hometown of Brampton to my adopted hometown of North Bay and I always found it fitting that I was providing the on-air story for this team. My duties involved putting together highlight packages, generating game day content, interviewing players and coaches as well as intermission guests; as well as providing other content for post and pregame show. During non-game days I covered several beat as City Reporter including; City Council, Police Board, School Board, University/College and High School sports. I was the anchor on weekend morning newscasts and filled in for weekday morning and afternoons as needed. That involved me creating hourly news updates for CKAT, CHUR and CKFX stations in North Bay as well as CHAS and CJQM in Sault Ste. Marie. A big part of news is driven through your online status and making sure our news was updated on the website was a big focus with this job. Making sure stories and photos were accurate and sharing the information through social media was a good way to engage our audience. It was also a responsibility to generate and seek out different story ideas and opportunities. Had a weekly live segment called “Council Capsule” where I would chat with a City Councillor the morning after the meeting to produce an informal type of interview giving the audience a different perspective on council issues.
Community Producer
At TV Cogeco I was the Producer and On-Air Host for a show called "Beyond the Boards." It was a feature show on the North Bay Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League. I would set up interview guests which included coaches, players and other media personalities and we would discuss all the storylines surrounding the team and the league. I also provided voice over work for highlights of the previous weeks games.
