Why airports are important (a very short essay):We in the U.S. are privileged to enjoy freedom of movement within all of our 50 states. As citizens of a country unparalleled as a leader on the world stage, we enjoy significant advantages in our safe movement from country to country. Amazing things can be accomplished when people overcome borders and welcome cooperation to address the growing pains of globalization, and the U.S. is uniquely positioned to lead that effort.Ethnicity, gender, skin color, sexual orientation, religion, and other differences have their levelers. Waiting for the plane we are all no more than simple travelers, seeking employment, family, getaways, new lives, and connections with our past. Physicians, researchers, executives, farmers, officers, and laborers all share the same hollow metal tube speeding across the horizon.While traveling we can often get mashed in with other folks who have some different and interesting stories.Passports, tickets, paychecks, driver's licenses, Social Security cards, visas... these are all paper borders. Real experiences getting them, though, can involve fear, boredom, frustration, obstacles, as well as careful solutions and well-deserved rewards. I hope to help clients find the latter.
