It is something that has always resonated with me. It is not a video I created (c) www.theRSA.org ( trust me, you get a lot for the 10 minutes you invest in watching it).Next to it is a video by Simon Sinek from Creative Mornings @ Galapagos Art Space about the impact of caring about what you do and who you do it with. Fulfillment! It's 42 minutes but equally mind blowing. (c) CreativeMornings 2014

  • New America
    Cybersecurity Policy Fellow
    New America 2016 - 2017
    Washington, Dc, Us
From New America "There is perhaps no issue that has grown more important, more rapidly, on so many different levels, than cybersecurity. It affects personal privacy, business prosperity and the wider economy, as well as national security and international relations. It is a field that matters for everything from human rights and corporate profits to fundamental issues of war and peace. And with the rapid growth in both the number of people and devices coming online across the globe, the security of information systems is only going to grow in importance. Yet, while ever more amounts are spent each year, our collective understanding of the problem remains immature and both public policy and private sector efforts have failed to match the scale or complexity of this challenge for us all. The Internet has connected us, but the policies and debates that surround the security of our networks are too often disconnected, disjointed, and stuck in an unsuccessful status quo. This is what New America’s Cybersecurity Initiative is designed to address. We believe that it takes a wider network to face the network of diverse security issues. Success in this endeavor will require collaboration - across organizations, issue areas, professional fields and business sectors, as well as local, state, and international borders. By highlighting bold new ideas, bringing in new voices with fresh perspectives, breaking down issue and organizational barriers while building up a new field of study, encouraging new research approaches to the next generation of cybersecurity issues, connecting and creating new constituencies, and providing vibrant media and policy platforms to support that creativity, we can aid in pushing forward the cyber policy needed right now and better set us up for success tomorrow."
  • The New York Times
    Data Journalist, Developer (Int)
The New York Times Jun 2014 - Nov 2015
    New York, Ny, Us
I tell stories with code! I am a member of the Interactive News Technology desk, at the New York Times. Steve Duenes of the New York Times once called the team, "...a news-focused team of journalist/developers who build dynamic, data-driven applications to enhance The Times's reporting online..." Reeves Wiedeman of Popular Mechanics writes " a group formed seven years ago to train and develop a team of "developer journalists," programmers who code tools for the newsroom's use."These are much better descriptions than my go-to "I work with wizards" answer. There is magic being created here daily by the talented women and men of INT . Seriously, I am very proud to count myself as one of them.
