The Executive Department Administrator (EDA) is a senior administrator within the Feinberg School of Medicine (FSM), charged with overseeing the administrative functions for 5 departments and three centers within the school, including Biochemistry & Molecular Genetics, Cell & Molecular Biology, Center for Genetic Medicine, Center for Pharmacogenomics, Microbiology-Immunology, Pharmacology, Physiology and Simpson Querry Center for Epigenetics. This role ensures the effective, compliant, and efficient daily management of all operational, financial, sponsored research, human resources and other related business functions in support of Feinberg's mission. The EDA acts as liaison to and works in coordination with central offices including Finance & Administration, Faculty Affairs, Research, HR, Budget, Facilities, IT, and ProvostThe EDA provides thought leadership and contributes to the strategic planning processes and the development of strategic administrative initiatives that help the business areas accomplish their mission with a specific emphasis on utilizing revenue for key faculty recruitment, program development, and research expansion.The EDA reviews and proposes strategic alliances, joint ventures and key collaborations with internal and external organizations and represents the business area on internal and external business affairs, and is viewed as an expert resource regarding business area administrative affairs.

As the Center Administrator I supported the director and five program managers in the Center for Genetic Medicine. In this role, I managed the financial and administrative staff, while being responsible for the overall financial management of the Center, including the reporting and analysis of Center expenses/revenues (including four core service centers). In addition, I managed the Center's annual budget process, all human resource activities, the effort certification process and administered pre- and post-award sponsored projects for Center faculty.

Managed approximately 200 grant accounts from various funding organizations, such as the National Institutes of Health, March of Dimes, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and Veterans Affairs for Northwestern University's Accounting Services for Research and Sponsored Programs. I monitored expenditures and subcontracts, approved cost transfers and payroll adjustments, and interim/final financial reports to appropriate funding agencies for each project. I worked with individual departments, administrators, and funding agency representatives on proper award set-up and close-out.
