Created a blood distribution hub in Djibouti, Africa for further distribution of blood products in support of US forces across Africa. Managed blood products for more than 10 hospitals in 6 countries across two continents. Implemented a new blood banking IT system with global access technology to link Department of Defense Blood Banks at 61 hospitals; ensuring patient records were accessible as they move from one duty assignment to another. Supervised 30 military and civilian staff in the blood bank and blood donor center. Ensured AABB, CAP, FDA and TJC guidelines were met. Implemented two new Immucor Echo Immunohematology analyzers. Performed blood hemostasis testing on the Haemonetics Thromboelastographic analyzer.

Transitioned the donor center into a new 25,000 square foot facility; validated processes and equipment; established new procedures for blood product manufacturing and testing. Collected over 12,000 blood products per year in support of the Armed Services Blood Program mission of supply blood products to Department of Defense beneficiaries around the world. Improved the competency assessment and training program to provide section leaders with the tools needed to ensure all employees are trained in each area. Supervised a staff of 40 military and civilian personnel. Implemented new infectious disease tests as applicable in accordance with AABB and FDA guidelines. Created a new training program that tracked competency assessments for all employees. Tracked maintenance status and lifecycle management of all equipment. Equipment utilized: Hemocue, Welch-Allen Vitals Machine, Genesis mixer, floor/counter centrifuges.

Served as an Adjunct Professor with the George Washington University Managed the Blood Bank/Hematology Sections of the Clinical Laboratory Technician Program, producing over 350 trained technicians per year. Supervised a team of 11 Soldiers in a deployment to Bagram, Afghanistan to conduct blood operations for Afghanistan. Conducted blood product shipments to more than 25 military treatment facilities across Afghanistan. Collected emergency whole blood in support of mass casualty operations. Collected apheresis platelets using the Haemonetics MCS 9000 apheresis machine. Deglycerolized frozen red blood cells using the Haemonetics ACP-215. Conducted testing for ABO/Rh, HIV, HCV, HBsAg, RPR, and Malaria using rapid test kits.
