Boston, Massachusetts, United States

As an Instructor, conducts online classes of fifteen to twenty students, as well as private lessons, in accordance with school standards, the classroom syllabus, and student needs. Subjects have included Business Management, Computerized Accounting, Customer Service, and other business-related topics. Uses the Zoom platform in order to create an online atmosphere that is as fun, engaging, and conducive to learning as in-person classrooms, utilizing a variety of features such as breakout rooms, chat windows, screen sharing, and whiteboard usage to touch upon as many different learning styles as possible. Touches base regularly with students during the lesson (and follows up by email, or with one-on-one discussions afterward), to ensure that the student feels welcome and connected.Additionally, uses the Moodle and GradPro platforms to record and track student grades, assessments, evaluations and attendance. This data is then shared with students in order to enable them to openly and honestly reflect on their performance, and ultimately to grow and improve in a way that satisfies not just the requirements of the class, but their own personal and professional goals.

As an English Teacher, developed and taught middle and high school classes focused on language arts for sixth and seventh grades, and elective Shakespeare for twelfth grade, in full accordance with school and state standards. Composed of twenty to twenty-five students, classes emphasized student agency and empowerment. Group and paired work was built on cooperative and collaborative exercises, such as debates and discussions, that fostered an open atmosphere and promoted exploration and a growth-mindset.Identified, assessed and tracked the individual learning needs of a diverse group of students, smoothly and seamlessly differentiating pedagogical approaches to suit each student. Utilized the BlackBaud platform to log and track student attendance, performance, and grades. Used this data to generate quarterly narrative reports, which served to anchor checkin discussions with students and parents so as to honestly, purposefully, and productively evaluate progress.In addition, established and maintained close working relationships with administration and fellow faculty, meeting regularly to keep fully informed of student social, emotional and intellectual development. Cooperatively built strategies for individual students, classes, grades, and the school, as a whole, to align teaching and management approaches effectively, efficiently, and in a manner that created a safe, open, and productive learning environment.

As a Fifth Grade Teacher, developed and implemented language arts, mathematics and social studies lessons, as well as two large Project Based Learning projects per year, in full accordance with Alaska state standards. Worked closely with parents and children to match student needs with suitable programs. Built strong relationships with admissions representatives in over sixty schools and also developed relationships with new schools.Represented IBG at promotional events and recruiting fairs in the United States and in China, speaking to large audiences and familiarizing them with our schools, products and services. Responsible for liaising with, and training, the China team.

Staffed, supervised, trained and managed an achievement-oriented team of twenty to twenty-five teachers. Set and coordinated strategic goals for the teachers as well as office support staff, coaching and developing core competencies. Lead the teaching team to attain its superior performance goals.Served as an educational advisor to students, diplomatically placing students in appropriate classes as well as balancing financial and educational considerations in a morally honest way. Tracked over three hundred students on a weekly basis, following up on and making sure their educational needs were met.Analyzed, coordinated and set the standards for the school’s educational program, evaluating it based on effectiveness as a whole, individual teachers’ abilities and students’ needs. Coordinated professional development trainings to synchronize teachers’ techniques without quashing teacher individuality.

Tokyo, Japan

Taught thirty-five hours of English classes a week at a public elementary school. Lessons focused on vocabulary, grammar and communication. Syllabi creation and faculty meetings were conducted in Japanese. As Head Teacher, coordinated English programs for several dozen public schools within the district.As a Company Trainer taught teaching techniques directly to faculty of public schools. Topics included methodology and techniques of teaching English, ways of engaging children and developing practical tools for the classroom.Worked special assignments at Mitsubishi Group and Japan Airlines Corporation teaching business English to executives being sent to live and work abroad. Training focused on communication and building a business vocabulary.

Taught thirty classes per week, conducted interviews with potential students and privately tutored when needed. Class sizes ranged from a maximum of eight students to private, one-on-one lessons and focused primarily on two areas: communication and grammar. Classes were often geared towards business themes.

Greater Los Angeles Area

Served as a Master Control Operator on the night shift at KTTV, Fox 11 Television out of Los Angeles (centralcasting center for most Fox stations on the west coast). Coordinated and monitored the scheduling and quality of the broadcast, as well as supervised the automated switching of programming based on federal regulations and company policy. Monitored incoming satellite feeds and ensured their quality for later broadcast. Worked to troubleshoot problems when they arose and solve them in a timely and professional manner.In addition to working as an MCO, I worked previously for Twentieth Century Fox Studios in technical and administrative positions on the lot in Los Angeles. These jobs included assisting vice-presidents of Television Scheduling, International Creative Advertising, Production and Office Services, Finance and Public Relations. While doing so, I gained a razor-sharp understanding of the Fox studio system, as well as the Los Angeles film and television business.

Greater New York City Area

Worked as a Technical Director for Japan's largest public broadcasting channel, NHK, serving as the leader of their television crew. In conjunction with the Program Director and Video Server Operator, operated video switching equipment to perform live, on-air video transitions, insert effects and titles for broadcast of Japanese programming for viewers in the greater New York City area. Verified and managed the scheduling and readiness of video material, as well as monitored broadcasts to ensure quality of signal, and then troubleshoot and fix problems when they arose. 'Off-air,' provided guidance to the Program Director on equipment selection, editing and broadcast styles as well as advice on crew assignments. Additionally, provided technical training for new-hires, instructing and evaluating their performance, and correcting as needed. Finally, as the only English-speaker on staff, served as a liaison between NHK's New York City office and other American networks such as FOX, CNN, NBC and CBS, arranging partnerships and helping to ‘smooth over’ difficulties due to culture and language differences.
