With a fellow physiotherapist, I am responsible for leading the physiotherapy team, ensuring that we as a team provide consistent, high quality, family centered, evidence based intervention across the organisation. As most of the participants we support are children, that most important part of my role is making sure that we don't lose the fun! With a strong focus on goal setting, mentoring, collaboration, positive constructive feedback and trans-disciplinary teaming, I work to up-skill families, fellow therapists and others in the child's life around how best to engage and promote the active learning of movement for children with complex neurologically-based movement disorders. Sometimes this means I am even allowed to present workshops, including whole day and short session workshops to clients and Department of Education and Training staff.
  • Cerebral Palsy Education Centre

    Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
With daily interactions with families, children and staff, I spend my days with a team of people helping solve real world problem for people living with physical disabilities. I am lucky - I get to flex my role from helping individuals, to providing high level managerial support to staff running a variety of programs across the Centre.I spend a lot of my time investigating and critically analyzing the changes the National Disability Insurance Agency brings to the sector so that I can understanding practical applications and opportunities it provides for Participants and organisations. As a result I seem to spend a fair amount of time in NDIS planning meetings! I am certain that my fellow Board members always look forward to my reports on this topic!Over the past 6 years it has been my role to transition the organisation from the existing state government block funded model to operations under the NDIA, including the business processes, administration and associated cultural shifts required. Simultaneously I supported families and participants to make the change - which has been just as large for them. The current adventure is taking the organisational digital with the implementation and roll out of a new client management system, bringing the back-end administration system up to cutting edge approach set by the therapy staff.
