Matthias Machacek is an expert for Model Based Drug development of biotherapeutics and active in the field of Digital Health. His experience ranges from target validation to clinical trials with an in-depth understanding of associated scientific questions and development strategies. He is mastering preclinical and clinical data integration and a wide range of modelling and simulation techniques for decision making at development transitions.Currently, his main focus is the Drug Discovery and Preclinical Development of novel biotherapeutic formats such as scFv, bi-specifics, antibody-drug conjugates (ADC) and recombinant fusion proteins. Recognising the increasingly fierce competition between companies pursuing the same molecular targets he is using Engineering methodologies to support up-front design of drugs to obtain desired PKPD properties. The goal is to obtain drug candidates with a PKPD profile that is more likely to differentiate from competitors and have distinct therapeutic advantages for patients. Matthias Machacek is also supporting the development of Digital Health solutions for pharmaceutical therapies. Digital Health fall right into his interdisciplinary expertise in Mechanical Engineering, Molecular Biology and Pharmacology. Hence his focus is in ensuring the right communication between the different scientific fields to avoid development traps. Further, he is providing analysis of data captured with digital health devices. Digital Health solutions provide rich and high resolution measurements which require appropriate methodologies to harvest novel insights into patient behaviour, disease and therapy.
