I am passionate about choral music education and the impact that our art has on singers and audiences of all ages. I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and I have more than 20 years of experience as a conductor, educator, and entrepreneur in the choral field.After nine years of collegiate teaching as a tenured Associate Professor at Peru State College, I joined Creighton University as the Director of Choral Activities in June, 2023 where I teach music coursework and conduct the University Chorus and Chamber Choir.As the founder and executive director of Sing Omaha Inc., a nonprofit, multi-choir, community-based organization that serves more than 300 singers of all ages and backgrounds, I oversee the artistic and administrative aspects of the organization, including planning and executing a seven-concert season each year, securing performance and rehearsal venues, managing the budget and fundraising, and recruiting and retaining singers and faculty. Sing Omaha also offers private music lessons and summer camps at two “Sing Omaha Studios” locations in Omaha.I serve on the national board for the American Choral Directors Association as the "Community Choirs Repertoire and Resources Chairman", and am the Executive Director of the Nebraska Choral Directors Association where I support the professional development and advocacy of choral music educators in the state. I am a two-time “Choral Director of the Year” award winner, and am honored to have received several other awards and recognitions of my work, including the Peru State College “Teaching Excellence Award” (2019), an Omaha “40 Under 40 Businessman” award in 2017, and induction in to the Oklahoma State University “Music Education Hall of Fame” in 2014..
