Over the last nine years he has refined his craft as a design engineer through five years of Project Lead the Way preparatory courses which prepared him for university level robotics and mechanical engineering problems before arriving at CPP. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Matt honed his skills in CAD design, manufacturing practices, and test engineering through his nine-month internship at an Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) catheter R&D startup in Carlsbad, CA, working on cutting edge next-generation catheters. In 2022, Matt became a research assistant for the Electromechanical Systems Engineering Technology department at CPP, partnering with Cal Tech's Center for Autonomous Systems and Technology to study how autonomous robots can be used to explore the surface of Mars. Simultaneously, Matt worked as a full time instructor for Tinker the Robot, a project which makes engineering accessible to children of all ages and serving underprivileged students by keeping costs to a minimum. During Summer 2022, Matt traveled throughout LA County to deliver electrical engineering curriculum to kids from Kindergarten to 8th grade. Matt is the Vice President of the CPP Solar Boat club, which explores the capability of renewable energy for watercraft by competing in design challenges against other university students internationally. Leadership of this club showcases knowledge in communication, machining, electronics, and other engineering necessities, while honing and expanding those skillsets.Matt is a well-equipped and driven engineer with technical accolades from his various workplaces. With a minor in Interpersonal Communication, Matt aims to explore how the technology world can benefit from strong soft skills and a dedication to healthy and productive work environments.
